Free2b Girls…

“The vision behind all Free2b Girls programs is for girls to have safe spaces in their communities where they can be themselves without fear of judgement.”

Tani Langoulant, Founder Free2b Girls

Our Programs

Free2b Girls Groups - are free weekly after-school programs designed for girls aged 10–16 . Our groups provide safe and supportive environments where girls can connect, build friendships, explore creativity and grow in confidence.

Each group is led by trained facilitators and volunteers who create welcoming, inclusive spaces where girls feel heard, valued and empowered.

Free2b Girls Groups are hosted by local organisations like Councils or Neighbourhood Houses and are run in community venues.

‘I love Free2b because it allows the girls to access parts of themselves they can’t or aren’t allowed to express or experience at school '

To help our grassroots organisation become sustainable and continue our work into the future we have recently formed a partnership with Mary Mackillop Today. For the next 2 years, our primary focus is to enable more communities in Tasmania to have Free2b Girls Groups through various new endeavours ~ our first being the enablement of 6 week seed programs. We are also on the road to becoming a certified social enterprise, and setting up a small NFP in the background to support programs once they’ve been established. If you would like to receive occasional inspiring updates about these initiatives and how to become involved, please sign up to our newsletter below and we will add you to our mailing list.

Our sustainability model has small scale local investment at its core…

We believe girls and young women benefit from knowing their local community is supporting and believing in them, so our programs are designed to have local host organisations like councils or Neighbourhood Houses committed to running them in the longer term. This ensures that Free2b programs grow, develop and are sustained from within communities themselves, and have genuine local care for girls wellbeing embedded from the beginning. Free2b Girls Groups also provide opportunities for local businesses and individuals to demonstrate support for their young women. Many groups receive contributions towards food each week from bakeries or supermarkets, with op shops regularly donating craft supplies and other bits and pieces when needed. Offers to support groups are always welcome - whether that be volunteering to help run a girls group, donations of supplies or seed funding a new program - surrounding Free2b Girls Groups with community initiative and care is what sustains them in the long term. Please get in touch if you’d like to offer support - ideas, partnerships, donations, conversations - all of these help our programs grow.
